Pianoscópio is an expressive tool for artists, educators and the general public. It was developed by Companhia de Música Teatral as a multifaceted project: an installation, a collective instrument, a scenic space, a universe capable of producing sounds of a myriad of colors, a space to be inhabited by people and produce sound as a result of their combined interaction. By developing an idea that “deconstructs” the piano the idea was to contribute to the construction of a more profound vision of music, creating an opportunity for discovery and expression.
Pianosonoscópio is yet another facet of the original project: an exploration of its musical potencial through a collaborative journey involving free improvisation and structured composition. It is the result of a partnership between Sonoscopia and Companhia de Música Teatral, in a joint effort to investigate and deepen creative processes in music making. This sound recording is the result of an artistic residence and public performance held at Fábrica - Centro de Ciência Viva de Aveiro between the 28th and 31st October 2015.
